Project Summary:
We propose to introduce and promote the use of experiments to teach economics in secondary schools. Recent advancement in economic research and teaching has demonstrated that most economic concepts can be taught and learned more effectively through classroom experiments.

Through our introduction of these experiments, we help to enhance the teaching and learning of Economics in secondary schools. Although there are numerous experiments being used in overseas schools and universities, we realize that a direct transplant of these experiments into Hong Kong is unlikely to be successful. Therefore, we will screen and select the experiments, which are more likely suitable to be used in Hong Kong's teaching environment. With appropriate modification for Hong Kong's classrooms, these experiments will be introduced to teachers and test-run by students from pilot schools. The feedback and experience will be used to further modify these experiments.

Our project is likely to benefit generations of students. A user's guide to these experiments will be written to pass on our experience. An electronic forum will be used to facilitate mutual support among secondary school teachers and our team members, even after the completion of our project. Our focus in training secondary school teachers, instead of direct contact with students, also help to extend the number of beneficiaries to next generations because teachers are generally much less mobile than students.
